Including a Querie

Natural and memetic selections aren’t the end all. There is another type that encompasses them both: query selection. Queries include linguistic questions but aren’t limited to them: they can be roughly abstracted to “a request for information.” This includes all types of selection, but also such things as sexual reproduction.

There is a class of queries: queries about queries. For example, “How do I ask better questions?” which has the wonderful quality of recursive self-improvement.

Memes become toxic/cancerous/parasitic when they supplant questions. X is the answer, full stop. The memetic war in a sense could be thought of as a war on questioning itself, a war on selection: the idealized viral meme would make perfect copies of itself endlessly.
